Radio Caroline was launched at Easter 1964 and always celebrated its birthday at Easter, whatever date that movable feast fell. In 1968 Easter Sunday was on 14th April and, the week before, a long-time offshore radio supporter, journalist David Hughes, had a major scoop in Disc & Music Echo. Caroline was attempting to return to the air!
