5th April 1970.

In April 1970 RNI changed from using a Top 40 to the Nifty 50, a name suggested by DJ Duncan Johnson. Thanks to Per Arne Berggren for providing most of this chart. We have added a few positions (marked with *) from radiopedia.nl. Can anyone fill in the few remaining gaps?

* Information from Radiopedia.

** Radiopedia lists Dream Police at no.12 and the Four Tops at no.13. Per Arne has Dream Police at no.21. Radiopedia lists Nancy Sinatra at no.21 but also has the same record at no.33 which seems unlikely.

*** Thanks to Frans Klaasen for identifying number 42 in the chart. He heard it on a recording of the Andy Archer show of 10th April 1970 in which the chart position was given.

Our thanks to Per Arne Berggren.

The links from the songs on this page lead to the Amazon MP3 Store where you can hear short audio clips of the tracks and customers in the UK can buy downloads. Please see this note.

We don't have last week's chart. The previous one we do have is from 22nd March. Next week's is over the page.
