1st August 1971.

The details of this chart were obtained from a recording shared on the Radiotrefpunt (radio meeting point) forum and confirmed by this site. Our grateful thanks to both. Since RNI had returned to the air earlier in the year, the Dutch and English programmes had used the same chart, made up of releases from both countries, but this was the last Super Hit 50 to be shared.

From Sunday 22nd August 1971 the International Service broadcast the British Top 20 every Sunday. In February 1972 this was replaced by the Prediction Hit 40.

click to hear audio An extract from the Radio Northsea International ‘Super Hit 50’ show from 1st August 1971 with Crispian St.John. Dave Rogers has the news on the Apollo 15 mission and there is a brand new programme schedule to promote. This line-up did not last long as Steve Merike and Alan West both left the station soon after (duration 3 minutes 37 seconds)

The links from the songs on this page lead to the Amazon MP3 Store where you can hear short audio clips of the tracks and customers in the UK can buy downloads. Please see this note.

There are a number of other offshore charts listed on The Pirate Radio Hall of Fame. Full details here.

The previous RNI chart we have is from 11th July 1971. The next one is the ‘British Top 20’ from 22nd August 1971.
