At the end of 2018 The Pirate Radio Hall of Fame heard from Trevor Haynes. He had upoaded an old cine film to YouTube which featured a trip on the paddle steamer Waverley to visit Radio Caroline's ship mv Mi Amigo in May 1978. He wrote: “quite a few well known people were on board that day, including Peter Chicago, Buster Pearson and Penelope Page of Monitor magazine, Paul (Alexander) Rusling and Rob Day. I thought I would send you the link to have a look at. Sorry the quality is not too great.” |
Following the publication of Trevor's film, we heard from Ray Clark. He had been surprised to spot himself in the clip (“at 35 secs in, to the right of the yellow people and to the left of the wheel”) and very kindly sent us a short piece of Super 8 footage that he shot on the same day. |
Following the publication of Ray's film clip, we heard from a third person who was on board the Waverley that day. Dietmar Flacke wrote: “Here is my super-8 video from the trip in 1978. Greetings from Bonn, Germany, Dietmar.” |
In January 2023 Brian Nichols of the Felixstowe & Offshore Radio Facebook page alerted us to some photos taken by Ken Crowther from that same trip which had just been posted on the FB page. He kindly offered to share them with us: |
