A profile of Ric Jonns

Many thanks to Peter Steward for sending us this article from The Beccles and Bungay Journal which he wrote about his colleague Ric Turton. At that time Ric was mainly employed as a bus driver but took photographs for the newspaper in his spare time. Previously he had been a disc-jockey on Radio Caroline, where he was known as Ric Jonns.

From ‘The Beccles and Bungay Journal’, 20th May 1977. Click on the image to enlarge.

A transcript of the interview which Peter carried out with Ric, and which formed the basis of this article, is here.

With grateful thanks to Peter.

Sadly Ric died in a car accident in 1985, aged just 42.

Does anyone have a recording of Ric Jonns on Caroline North? Or of “Chris Jonns” on Caroline South. All we have been able to find so far is here. If you have a tape, please get in touch.
