The Caroline Countdown Of Sound,

Radio Caroline South stopped broadcasting a weekly chart show in May 1967 (last one here) although Caroline Countdown Top 50s were still compiled and the DJs often mentioned chart positions in their programmes. In November 1967 a chart show was reintroduced to the programme schedule, late on Saturday night/early Sunday morning, hosted by Carl Mitchell. This only lasted a few weeks and, as the show was only two hours long, Carl didn't play every record. The incomplete details below were obtained from a 45 minute recording of part of the show from the early hours of 5th November 1967, with additional information courtesy of The Stonewashed Collection (with thanks to Mary Payne). Can anyone fill in the remaining gaps? We have given the chart Saturday's date, consistent with the other Caroline Countdowns of the sixties. |
