The fans' memorabilia

The Observer, 13th February 1966

On Sunday 13th February 1966 The Observer's colour supplement featured an article about Radio Caroline South and Radio London.

Journalist John Gale and photographer Sally Soames went out to both ships to talk to and photograph the disc jockeys. Unfortunately in the intervening period between their visit and the publication of the article, the Caroline ship had lost its anchor in a storm and been washed up on the beach at Frinton.

The station returned to the air on reduced power from a borrowed ship, mv Cheeta II, on the day before this article was published.

This copy of the magazine was kindly provided by Mike Lewis.
