Correspondent Ian Francis has kindly donated this chart of European medium and long wave radio stations of the sixties. It shows which stations were broadcasting on what frequencies on 1st November 1965. Ian says: “Here is a rather tatty supplement which was supplied with Wireless World. It shows many of the offshore stations. Note Radio Essex is decidedly ‘off channel’ and the appearance of a new station, Radio 390. I hope it is of interest.” It certainly is Ian. Thank you very much. As well as showing Radio 390, which had launched in September 1965, and Radio Essex, which had only just begun transmissions (and did move ‘on channel’ some time later), the chart also includes Radio City, Radio London, the two Caroline ships and the Dutch Radio Veronica. |
